How to obtain and install Windows 7 SP2

Since the release of Windows 7 in 2009, Microsoft has released many updates, making the update process quite cumbersome. Although Microsoft promised to release only one service pack—Windows 7 SP1 (released in 2011), in May 2016, Microsoft released a package called “Convenience Rollup”, which integrates all updates from SP1 to April 2016. Although Microsoft did not call it a service pack, it is effectively Windows 7's SP2.

1. Prerequisites for Installing Windows SP2
Before installing the convenience rollup, ensure that your Windows 7 system meets the following conditions:
1. You are running the Windows 7 SP1 version
2. Your system disk has at least 5 GB of available space
3. You have installed KB3020369 - (choose between x32 systems and x64 systems)

2. Download and Install KB3125574
Once the prerequisites are met, you can download the convenience rollup: KB3125574 (choose between x32 systems and x64 systems).
Once downloaded, double-click the file and follow the on-screen instructions to install. Since this is a large update, the search and installation process may take some time, so please be patient.
Note: After installation, the version number displayed in system properties will still show Windows 7 SP1.

3. Install Other Windows Updates
The convenience rollup only includes updates released from SP1 to April 2016. Any Windows 7 updates released after that will not be included, so you should run Windows Update to install other available updates. Additionally, the convenience rollup does not include Internet Explorer 11 or the latest .NET Framework updates. If needed, you should manually install these packages or obtain them through Windows Update.
